Welcome to
our "Customer Cars" section. Here you will find
various projects that we've decided to profile. Hopefully,
our customers' cars will help you decide on what performance
modifications you may be thinking about.
Vehicle:
1988 Mustang
GT
Project: Top End Rebuild
Owner:
Eric Miller
In 2003, Eric's car rolled
into the shop and put down 204 RWHP. At the time, the car
had only a cold air induction, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust
system and Ford Racing gears. Eric stated that he wanted
his car to be a "quick" street car with occasional trips to the
track. Naturally aspirated. After a few more
questions to understand his driving style and preferences, the P
and J crew was fast at work to build a car they knew Eric would
be happy with.
Where's the mass air meter...?

1988 and older Mustangs were
"Speed Density" and were not equipped with mass air meters.
Unfortunately, this added an additional cost to Eric's project,
but as with most aftermarket performance parts, mass air is a must.
Tearing down the old motor...

Within weeks,
Eric's car was becoming a serious street machine.
Installed were new cylinder heads, larger fuel injectors, upper
and lower intake manifolds, ignition system, fuel pump and fuel
pressure regulator, long tube headers and a mid pipe.
Also, the mass air meter and larger throttle body were added.
To help get through the new found power, a Pro 5.0 shifter was
added.

Time for the dyno...

Eric's car turned 318 RWHP on
the dyno...that's a 150 engine horsepower gain!
Since 2003, P and J Speed
Shop installed a "Stroker" short block and performance
suspension and brake system on Eric's car. Oh yeah...he's
also planning on adding a 150 - 200 shot of giggle gas.
